Tigers Learn to Play Hockey
The Learn to Play Hockey program is the most affordable and fastest path to playing on a hockey team. Players between 4 to 15 years old learn hockey skills while they build confidence before transitioning to a hockey team.
Full equipment is loaned so families have a lower cost commitment as players develop a love of the game.
CSAHA offers multiple groups to develop players of all skill levels.
Hockey 1:
- Learn to skate forward, stand and get up on their own; basic stick handling, passing and shooting
- Current skill level: Cannot skate on their own
Hockey 2:
- Learn basic skating, stickhandling and shooting skills through drills and small area games
- Current skill level: Can stand and skate forward some, or completed Hockey 1
Hockey 3:
- Learn intermediate backward and forward skating, stickhandling and shooting skills through drills and small area games
- Current skill level: Can stand and skate on their own, or completed Hockey 2
Hockey 4:
- Learn more advanced backward and forward skating, stickhandling, shooting skills and positioning through drills and small area games
- Current skill level: Can skate forward, backward, stick handle, pass and shoot, or completed Hockey 3
Cost:
- $115 per player (7-week session)
What Players Get:
- 10.5 hours of ice time - more ice time than any Learn to Play Hockey program in the region (and at the lowest price per ice time)
- 1.5 hour practices (weeks 1-6)
- 1.5 hour game + team picture (week 7)
- Full ice dedicated to the Learn to Play Hockey program
- Loaned:
- Learn to Play Hockey jersey - gold, gray, or black
- Gold & black socks
- Full equipment (when requested)
- Individualized program levels based on skill - players can build confidence & skill alongside their peers
- Opportunities to build camaraderie and friendships with teammates
- A program designed to promote confidence, sportsmanship, resilience, tenacity, leadership, and accountability.
- Support from seasoned coaches, student coaches, junior coaches, and Tigers player volunteers.
- Strong representation of female coaches, student coaches, Tigers player volunteers, and players within the program, as we continue to also grow girls hockey within CSAHA and the state. We understand the unique needs of girls entering the sport.

IMPORTANT: Please review the information on the "Your Account on Crossbar" page before registering your player. Your parent account needs to be established first and you can add the youth player as a participant to that account. Do not establish a separate account in the youth player's name.
